A grand Antique Late-Victorian locket and collar made Circa 1880. The locket is fashioned in Sterling Silver and displays intricate engraved workmanship with Silver balls and stars surrounding the border and lovely etched Forget me nots on the raised dome in the centre.

Forget me nots in an old German tale were discovered by two lovers walking by a river one day. After picking a beautiful bouquet of blue flowers for his loved one the poor gentleman sadly fell in the river and was swept away but before he vanished he yelled out ‘Forget-me-not!’ giving the flowers their name and a long lasting symbolism of love and remembrance.

The Silver Collar is a wonderful articulated design and continues the star-studded workmanship with Silver balls also running along the entire length leading to a large hinged clasp which holds it all together.

The piece is steeped in history and displays the beauty and grandeur of Victorian craftsmanship. The locket is complete with original rims so that two cherished photographs can be stored within.
